Be'o-Ja Sacha Mansoa alliacea

Also known as ajo sacha, or false garlic, this evergreen shrub or vine is native to the Amazon. It has bright green leaves that grow to 6 inches and flowers that are purple to white in color. It is often administered during ayahuasca ceremonies, and used to ward off evil.

PROPERTIES AND USE:
Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, febrifuge, antispasmodic, antiviral, antifungal, antibacterial, antimalarial. Used as a pregnancy tonic, and treats high cholesterol, colds, flu, epilepsy, uterine conditions, skin conditions, arthritis, sore muscles, rheumatism, infertility, and headache.


TRADITIONAL PREPARATION:
To make a decoction, boil a few large leaves in 1 gallon water for 30 minutes. Steep for 30 minutes. For skin conditions, arthritis, sore muscles, and rheumatism, use the bark as a poultice. It is also available in tincture and capsule form.
